This compact blanket flower has red and yellow bicolor flowers that have an extended bloom in mid-season. Plants reach 12" tall with an equal spread and are ideal for the sunny border, cut flowers, or use in containers. Blanket flowers are typically short-lived plants and require excellent winter drainage.

Gaillardia ‘Burgundy’

This cultivar boasts 3" wine-red flowers atop 24-36" plants. ‘Burgundy' is mainly known for its solid red flowers that appear heaviest in Mid-season however, it blooms continuously until frost. An excellent choice for constant color in the garden. Like the other Gaillardia cultivars, it prefers full sun and an average well-drained soil.

Gaillardia ‘Goblin’

‘Goblin' is a 12" selection with red-yellow bicolor blooms. It is similar to ‘Baby Cole' in height, only the flower color pattern is reversed. It has the same growing requirements as the other Gaillardia cultivars. This is probably the most widely used Gaillardia variety in cultivation.

Golden orange petals with soft yellow tips surround orange central cones with green centers. Flowers bloom all summer into fall. This cultivar has a more upright growth habit than other gaillardias. It grows 24" tall when in flower. Prefers full sun and drier soils.

Galium odoratum
Sweet Woodruff  (Zone 4)
Sweet Woodruff is a very versatile groundcover for the part-shade to shade garden. It grows 8-12" tall and produces masses of ¼" white fragrant flowers in Early-season. It responds well to shady, moist, well-drained areas. Great for naturalizing and mass plantings. This is an awesome native perennial that is also used for sachets and nosegays. Sweet Woodruff is also considered an herb used for flavoring May wine. If placed properly, Galium will spread vigorously and weave a shade garden together.

Gaura lindheimeri Blushing Butterflies^TM (PP14661) ('Benso')

This is one of the exciting new gauras available in the trade! Of the new gauras we are growing, this cultivar is the most similar to 'Siskiyou Pink'. Its' habit and foliage color are nearly the same, however, it is a little more compact growing only 1½-2', and the flowers are a lighter shade of pink.

Gaura lindheimeri 'Crimson Butterflies' (PP13189)

This cultivar is the most interesting! It is the most compact of the 4 that we carry. It only reaches 12-18" tall. It has deep pink flowers that stand a few inches above the foliage. The foliage is a deep crimson red that stays with the plant through the fall and into the winter! This would be a great addition to the border or in containers.

Gaura lindheimeri ‘Siskiyou Pink’

This perennial is a selection of the pacific northwest native white Gaura. The rosy-pink flowers appear in Mid-season atop 24-36" plants. Gaura grows well in full sun to part shade areas with a rich, well-drained soil. The foliage, unlike the straight species, has attractive reddish-green hue. These are relatively long blooming and insect and disease free. If you haven't used this plant yet, try it out – you will like it!

Gazania Colorado Gold^TM
Hardy Gazania  (Zone 4)
How about a hardy Gazania that blooms all summer! This Plant Select^TM introduction is a cultivar of G. linearis. It is very short, growing to only 3", and requires relatively low maintenance. Yellow daisy-like flowers (with irregular black markings at the center) appear throughout summer. Deadheading will promote continual bloom. Plants grow admirably in full sun and very well-drained soil. Soil drainage is a key factor for good performance so watch out for wet feet, especially in winter!

Gentiana dahurica
Gentian  (Zone 4)
One of the easiest gentians to grow, this species is a great addition to rock gardens! The deep blue, 1”, bell-shaped flowers bloom in mid to late summer. The lance-shaped leaves form a basal rosette. Plants like cool weather, full sun, and good drainage. The basal foliage can grow up to 6” tall, while in bloom the plant will reach 12” tall.

Bright blue flowers appear in abundance in Mid-season. The medium green foliage is finely cut and has a decent yellow fall color. ‘Brookside' grows up to 24" tall and can be cut back hard after flowering for a flush of new foliage and some rebloom. One of our favorite ground cover Geraniums, ‘Biokovo’ has white flowers tinged with pink  in Early to Mid-season. ‘Cambridge Blue’ is an excellent evergreen spreader growing 8" tall with an 18" spread. A light shearing after flowering will encourage both fresh new foliage and rebloom. Makes a great groundcover or border perennial. Prefers sun to part-shade with well-drained soils, especially in winter.

This is a beautiful, long-blooming selection with shell pink flowers atop bright green foliage that is mottled with brown. In our garden, ‘Mavis Simpson' bloomed from June well into fall. Grows only to 12" tall in part-shade and a well-drained soil. An excellent choice for the woodland garden.

A new hybrid introduction that seems to be a blooming machine! The beautiful violet-blue flowers that started in Mid-season have continued on well into autumn. Single or double lemon-yellow flowers bloom in Early to Mid-season on this clump forming perennial. The scalloped foliage is dark green and slightly hairy. It prefers moist, well-drained sites and can grow 18-24". This is a good plant for the border but does not always like the hot summer sun.

Geum chiloense ‘Mrs. Bradshaw’

The foliage of this plant looks exactly the same as ‘Lady Stratheden'; however, the flowers are a bit unique. They open up a lime green color and trick you into thinking they are not what you planted! Give them time though and they turn a dazzling red. This plant is also good for the border and a good cut flower. It grows 18-24" in moist, well-drained soils.

Semi-scalloped dark green leaves form a nice mound of foliage that grows 18” tall in full sun and average soils. Double deep red flowers are impressive, growing on long stems above the foliage.

Geum ‘Fireball’

Originally found in England, 'Fireball' is an impressive naturally occurring variety that has very showy, semi-double, orange-yellow flowers borne in profusion. The flowers are 1½" and picoteed with a red edge. The vibrant flowers are produced from spring until fall. The medium-green foliage grows to 8" with the flower stems reaching to 26". The foliage will spread to about 2’. Makes a good cut flower and attracts butterflies. As with most other Geum’s, these require full sun and well-drained soils, especially during wet winters.

Goniolimon tataricum
German Statice  (Zone 5)
Gray-green basal foliage gives way to the multi-branching flower stalks that can grow to 24" across. The flowers themselves are tiny, whitish, papery blooms. This is an excellent cut flower plant that is also great for drying. The flower stalks can be used in dried arrangements as an airy filler. This plant can grow up to 15" tall and prefers full sun in well-drained soils.

Gypsophila cerastoides

This less common dwarf gypsophila is unlike the other varieties we grow. It is excellent for rock gardens or small areas as the foliage grows only a few inches tall with leaves that are rounded and slightly glossy. The dense foliage forms nice mats with the pink-veined white flowers blooming just above the foliage in summer.

A must for every cutting garden, ‘Bristol Fairy' has hundreds of double white flowers in Mid-season. Grows to 24" and is great as a filler in the border or as everyone surely knows, as a cut flower. Grow in full sun and a well-drained soil (especially in Winter). Repeat bloomer.

Gypsophila paniculata ‘Perfecta’

Similar in most respects, including cultural, to ‘Bristol Fairy', ‘Perfecta' has larger double white flowers and grows 3-4' tall (wide). Its stems are fairly stout but it probably will need to be staked if grown in a cutting garden or better yet let it sprawl as a beautiful filler in the mixed border!
