Sweet Woodruff  (Zone 4)
Sweet Woodruff is a very versatile groundcover for the part-shade to shade garden. It grows 8-12" tall and produces masses of ¼" white fragrant flowers in Early-season. It responds well to shady, moist, well-drained areas. Great for naturalizing and mass plantings. This is an awesome native perennial that is also used for sachets and nosegays. Sweet Woodruff is also considered an herb used for flavoring May wine. If placed properly, Galium will spread vigorously and weave a shade garden together.

This cultivar is the most interesting! It is the most compact of the 4 that we carry. It only reaches 12-18" tall. It has deep pink flowers that stand a few inches above the foliage. This perennial is a selection of the pacific northwest native white Gaura. The rosy-pink flowers appear in Mid-season atop 24-36" plants. Gaura grows well in full sun to part shade areas with a rich, well-drained soil. The foliage, unlike the straight species, has attractive reddish-green hue. These are relatively long blooming and insect and disease free. If you haven't used this plant yet, try it out – you will like it!

Hardy Gazania  (Zone 4)
How about a hardy Gazania that blooms all summer! This Plant SelectTM introduction is a cultivar of G. linearis. It is very short, growing to only 3", and requires relatively low maintenance. Yellow daisy-like flowers (with irregular black markings at the center) appear throughout summer. Deadheading will promote continual bloom. Plants grow admirably in full sun and very well-drained soil. Soil drainage is a key factor for good performance so watch out for wet feet, especially in winter!

Gentiana dahurica
Gentian  (Zone 4)
One of the easiest gentians to grow, this species is a great addition to rock gardens! The deep blue, 1”, bell-shaped flowers bloom in mid to late summer. The lance-shaped leaves form a basal rosette. Plants like cool weather, full sun, and good drainage. The basal foliage can grow up to 6” tall, while in bloom the plant will reach 12” tall.

Bright blue flowers appear in abundance in Mid-season. The "standard" in blue Geraniums, this favorite has clear lavender-blue flowers on bushy 24" tall and wide plants. The foliage is finely cut and tends to sprawl a bit in containers and in the border. It can be cut back to get a more compact plant. The nice yellow-orange Fall color is a bonus! Grows best in full sun and a well-drained soil. Flowers appear in Early to Mid-season.

A new hybrid introduction that seems to be a blooming machine! The beautiful violet-blue flowers that started in Mid-season have continued on well into autumn. We think this is going to be a huge hit!

Originally found in England, 'Fireball' is an impressive naturally occurring variety that has very showy, semi-double, orange-yellow flowers borne in profusion. The flowers are 1½" and picoteed with a red edge. The vibrant flowers are produced from spring until fall. The medium-green foliage grows to 8" with the flower stems reaching to 26". The foliage will spread to about 2’. Makes a good cut flower and attracts butterflies. As with most other Geum’s, these require full sun and well-drained soils, especially during wet winters.

This less common dwarf gypsophila is unlike the other varieties we grow. It is excellent for rock gardens or small areas as the foliage grows only a few inches tall with leaves that are rounded and slightly glossy. The dense foliage forms nice mats with the pink-veined white flowers blooming just above the foliage in summer.
