Annuals

Millcreek Gardens LLC is pleased to grow several lines of annuals including selections from Ball Seed, Proven Winners® and Proven SelectionsTM.  These annuals will add season-long color and perform spectacularly in the landscape. The following is a list of our current offerings that are planned for late May and June 2012. All of our annuals are grown in round 4˝" pots, and shipped 10 per flat. Annuals are not available for preorder. Look for them on our "Honor Roll" in May!

Angelonia
 

These heat loving annual flowers thrive on those hot and sticky summer days. Also called Summer Snapdragon, they will sport stalks up to 24” tall loaded with flowers. The Angelface Series has an excellent response to pruning for use as cut flowers, feels at home in the ground or in containers, and will tolerate drought.

Argyranthemum

An old favorite, Argyranthemums produce daisy-like flowers throughout the growing season. These solid performers will give your containers or beds a classic, timeless look. Argyranthemums can benefit from the occasional trimming and fertilizer for optimum season long performance.

Calibrachoa Superbells®

These low maintenance, cascading plants yield petunia-like flowers in mass quantities. They are typically found in and are great for containers (a hanging basket will get lost under all the color!), but can be in the ground as long as good drainage is present. The Superbells series is a must-have for any annual display!

Ipomea

This companion plant, also known as Sweet Potato Vine, makes a great foliage buddy for your plantings. Easy to grow and tolerant of almost all conditions, it comes in a variety of colors to mix and match for every occasion!
 

Black Heart – Dark burgundy to black heart-shaped leaves on dark purple stems, grows 6" - 10".


 

Blackie- Deeply lobed merlot purple to black leaves, grows to 8-10" tall.

 


Marguerite- Bright lime-green colored heart-shaped leaves, grows to 18" tall.

Lobelia

Lobelias are good natured plants that aim to please. Their self cleaning habit eliminates the need for deadheading, and their compact, well branched growth fits in well in containers or the bed. Plants will bloom all summer, perform best when soil is allowed to dry between watering, and benefit from a trim if needed or if flowering declines.

Nemesia

Delicate petite blooms of Nemesias work well in both the garden and in the container. Their self cleaning habit and slight fragrance will keep your interest all season, starting in early spring.

Osteospermum

Osteospermums are some of the most recognizable annuals available. Their large daisy-like flowers will fill any space with color, and plants can trickle over the sides of containers for a slight trailing effect. Plants will bloom continuously from spring through fall.

Pentas Butterfly

Pentas is the plant in your garden your neighbors wish they had! While still suitable for containers, this plant may be happiest in the garden as part of a border or cutting garden. Bright clusters of color will attract butterflies from spring to early fall.

Petunia and Supertunia®

A timeless classic, the Petunia/Supertunia is the plant that never goes out of style. These hardworking annuals will bloom continuously and trail over any edge they can get their leaves on. With plenty of colors to choose from, there’s sure to be a perfect match (or three or four!) for every setting.

Sutera

These robustly trailing plants, also known as Bacopa, are your friend in any combination planting. No container edge is safe from the flower-filled sprawling branches! Suteras do not wilt before becoming water stressed, so be sure to keep soil moist for best results.

Verbena Babylon®

A great low maintenance annual, Verbenas offer colorful garden phlox-like blooms in colors to match any combination.
